Wizard loves to chew (as seen here). He is Jacob's favorite and he calls him Warrior. Wizard is the best at walking on the leash so far. He also likes furry stuff and playing with toys.

Dragon at seven weeks

Dragon is quite lovely. He is a very very playful puppy. He likes to come when you call him (we'll see how long that lasts) because he likes to hear his name.
He loves to play with a ball with his brother, Cosco and Serena and Elizabeth. He is not as rolly poley as his brothers are.

Cosco at Seven Weeks

Cosco is a beautiful puppy. He is very friendly and he likes to chew on leashes and play with the ball. If someone is biting your shoe, it's Cosco!

Goblin at Seven Weeks

Goblin is very playful and nice to people. He is Serena's favorite. She says if you make any sounds, he will come after you. Also, he loves the other puppies.

Sparkle at seven weeks

Here is our little girl, Sparkle. The girls finally found her name! She is a sweet and kind puppy. She is very playful and can get over excited. She's so cute!

The Red Boys

The red boys are all good size but the one the kids call Brownie (the first pictured here) is the biggest of all of them.

The Tri Boy

The Tri boy is looking like Jim's favorite if he turns out to be show quality. The kids' call him Prince Goblin.

The Little Girl

Here is the little princess. Liz calls her Spaina or Lea, she doesn't know which one fits her yet.

With Open Eyes

Well, their eyes are open today - mostly - so here they are. All together - you may not see this picture again. That's three red boys, the tri boy and the red girlie.

Puppies' First Visitors

The puppies had their first visitors on Thursday. Miss Amelia and Miss Lucy are seen here posing with their picks. Of course, Serena couldn't resist getting in the pictures herself.

The Tricolor Boy

Here is the Tri Boy.

The Lone Lady

Here's the little lady!

The Red and White Boys

Here are the red and white boys.

Famous Owners

Here is Serena and the puppies.
Several famous people have owned
basenjis over the years. Among them
have been Queen Juliana of the
Netherlands and memers of the
Romanian royal family.

Here They Are!

Here they are, the whole gang. It was surprisingly hard to get them to sit still for their first group picture. They look like they are sleeping but like any good basenji, they are already on the move!

A Prized Possession

Hi! Elizabeth here - I wanted to tell you some things about basenjis.

Among its many practical functions in Africa, the basenji was used to hunt the
reed rat, a vicious long-toothed animal weighing 12-20 pounds. The basenjis
silent manner of working proved a great asset. Basenjis also have wonderful
noses and can scent at a distance of 80 yards. The value placed on basenjis
by African natives was high indeed, for they not only hunted antelope and
a large species of reed rat but they also were capable of driving large game.
Their worth was more than 20 times the value of a spear.

Puppies for Christmas

Splitz finally had her puppies on Christmas Day. She had four boys and one girl. One of the boys is a tri-color and everyone else is red and white (our favorite!). All are doing well.

Father - Ch Edgie's Cat in the Hat

The father of this litter is Blue, Ch. Edgie's Cat in the Hat. He is a willing and happy showdog (mostly because he loves food) who is a beautiful mover. He is a cheerful and energetic guy who has definate opinions about what he likes and doesn't like.

Mother - Can Ch. Edgie's Splitz

The Dam of this litter is Ch. Edgie's Splitz. She is a lovely typey basenji with excellent ground covering movement. She is as sweet as she is pretty.

Beyond her due date

Splitz was due to have her puppies on December 18th and here she is on that day, not looking all that ready to have her pups. Instead, she decided to deliver on Christmas Day...
